Room consists of some 450 bricks; I emptied my studio space of its entire contents and filled the empty floor space with wet clay bricks. The furniture was then replaced onto the wet clay floor and kept down for 6 months, and the studio was used as normal. Over the 6-month period the floor recorded all the activity that occurred within the room. It was then taken up and fired as a permanent record of a specific time. Room is a residue of my presence that can be viewed in my absence.
